Reita discusses the new library...

We are finally open in our new library! The grand opeing festivities were...well..grand! There were speeches by Mayor Don Larson, State Librarian Jim Scheppke (okay, how many of you even knew we had a state Librarian), Library Board President Jan Clawson, Friends of the Library President Mary Peterson, State Representative Debby Boone, and author Jo Dereske. After all the speechifyin' came the ribbon cutting. The mayor had a big ol' plywood pair of six-foot scissors what wouldn't cut anything because they were, you know, fake. I secretely had the normal ones that actually cut the ribbon, and I told the mayor that was because librarians were the ones who really did the work. Thank heavens my mayor tolerates me.
My staff is glad that all the hoopla is over and they can finally get back to being librarians. We are really glad to be open again, because we missed all our library patrons and friends while we were closed. Now lets all get back to what we do best: Reading!
